Gerald McCoy has been selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the third overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft.

McCoy will help to shore up a line that ranked last in the league against the run this past season. Most see McCoy as a perfect fit for the Tampa 2 defense the Bucs run.

Personally, I have some reservations about McCoy, particularly about his strength. I think a lack of core strength showed through with his 23 reps of 225 at the combine. However, regardless of those reservations he was productive at the college level, and most believe he projects very well at the next level. The Bucs hope, as the Lions do in selecting Suh before them, that they've now solidified their defensive line for the next ten years.
